Coming from a close-knit family with virtually no conflict may seem an unlikely background for a personal injury lawyer. Yet, Kenneth Hancock says the work fits him like a glove. “My upbringing gave me a strong foundation and sense of confidence. When confronted with chaos or conflict inherent in this profession, my sense of calm lets me immediately set to work on a strategy for overcoming whatever problem my client is facing.”
He says that struggling with ADHD as a young person helped him in unexpected ways. “It was a struggle in my formative years, but I’ve always valued getting things done. Over the years I’ve developed strategies to make that happen. Those skills make me a good personal injury attorney. I am passionate about helping good people get a good resolution that helps them get their lives back on track.”
Personal injury work is a unique area when it comes to dealing with people. He goes on to explain, “The fact that a client is coming to you automatically means that something bad has happened to them or their family. They are usually at wits’ end and don’t know how to move forward. Contrary to popular belief, most people are not career injury victims. When they see me it’s typically the very first time they’ve been in these circumstances. They are struggling with a lot of unknowns. They don’t know what the future holds and they are worried.”
Since there are so many unknowns, Kenneth uses the first client meeting to evaluate the case and understand what the client is looking for. “During our first meeting, it is very important to set expectations for my clients. In virtually every case, a client simply doesn’t know what to expect from me or the process when they walk in my door.”
He explains that he looks for credible clients who want a fair, honest resolution. “There is no way to know what the case will be worth at the beginning. If that is a client’s sole focus, it is not a good match for us.” He goes on to say, “As a personal injury lawyer, I can’t put people in jail, or punish a bad guy. What I can do is get the best recovery I can for my client.”
Kenneth believes that he provides a unique service to his clients. “I will provide in-depth guidance to navigate the uncertainties of every case. I’ll be an active advocate and handle difficult parts of the process in order to relieve some of the burdens they carry. It feels good to help them find peace-of-mind and the ability to put their lives back together again. That’s what motivates me every day.”
